NGC 7331 is one of the brighter galaxies which is not included in Messier's catalog. It exposes a fine spiral structure despite its small inclination from the edge-on position. Several companions and background galaxies are visible in the image, especially just under the large galaxy. Be sure to click on it to get a closer look. This image was taken September 3, 2010. It is 6 hours of exposure through luminance and RGB filters. The imaging session was under the control of CCDAutopilot automation software.
