NGC7129

A long exposure image of this often neglected but striking cluster and nebula. It is an area rich in star birth, and recent surveys show there about 130 very young stars that are each less than a million years old. If you take a closer look at the photo you will see 2 brilliant deep red areas. Those are called Herbig Haro objects, which are areas where new stars will form. This image was taken under poor seeing conditions on September 5 and 8-11, 2010 and totals 13 hours of exposure.
