This is NGC 4725, aka, the “One Armed Galaxy”, a spiral galaxy in the constellation of Coma Berenices. NGC 4725 is a Seyfert Galaxy, suggesting an active galactic nucleus containing a supermassive black hole. The galaxy at the bottom of the image is NGC4712. This image had 2.5 hours of exposure. Not nearly enough so when the weather improves I will add more frames of luminance and color data. This image was taken May 10, 2010 under poor seeing conditions but clear skies.
