Called the Running Man Nebula, this is my second visit to this part of the sky with the Hyperion. This image was taken on November 7, 2010 with more data added January 1, 2011. Total exposure is now 7 hours, with 3 hours luminance. Seeing was only fair both nights. Found along the sword of Orion just north of the bright Orion Nebula complex, these nebulae are also associated with Orion's giant molecular cloud which lies about 1,500 light-years away, but are dominated by the characteristic blue color of interstellar dust reflecting light from hot young stars. Taken together, the dark regions suggest to many the shape of a running man.
