M65 and M66

Adjoining galaxies M65 and M66 in Leo. M66 is at the bottom. M66 is about 36 million light years away. M65 is approximately the same distance. Studies indicate that the two galaxies are interacting gravitationally. This image consists of 6 hours of exposure under only fair weather conditions. Image acquired with the Hyperion Scope, STL11000m camera and automation provided by CCDAutopilot 4.
