The Cave Nebula, Sh2-155 or Caldwell 9, is a dim and very diffuse bright nebula within a larger nebula complex containing emmison, reflection, and dark nebulosity. Visually it is a difficult object, but with adequate exposure, makes a striking image. The nebula gets its name from the dark lane at the eastern side that has the appearance of a deep cave. This image was taken on November 16, 2009 in only fair 'seeing' conditions. It is 2 hours of color data mixed with an hour of hydrogen-alpha exposures. The image was acquired with a Hyperion 12.5 inch telescope mounted on a Paramount ME using an SBIG STL-11000 CCD camera.
