This is 7 hours of exposure of this very faint object in our milky way. It’s location accounts for the massive amount of stars visible in the field. In fact there are 6,287 stars visible. (Yes, there is software that can count the stars.) SH2-87 is 7500 light years way. This image was taken August 23, 24 and 27, 2014. Click on the image for a closer view.
