SH2-278 is a very faint emission nebula in the constellation of Orion near the bright star Rigel. This is a 22 hour exposure that began the night of January 15, 2014. The image is still noisy, so is going to require at least another 3-4 hours of luminance and perhaps some more color frames to do justice to this nebula. Sky conditions have been sub-par, so it may take awhile to get the additional data needed. Click on the image for a larger view.
