SH2-263

sh2-263v2

This is a faint nebula condisting of both emission and reflection nebula components surrounded by interstellar dust located in the constellation of Orion just to the north of the star Bellatrix.  The Red Nebula gives off its own energized light while the Blue Nebula is illuminated by the nearby 5.8 magnitude hot young star HR 1763 located near center of the red nebula. The amount of stars would be greater except the surrounding dust tthat pervades the nebula dims the stars and slighly shifts their color. This is a 6 hour exposure, taken February 11-13, 2015.
