Messier 13 (M13), also designated NGC 6205 and sometimes called the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules or the Hercules Globular Cluster, is a globular cluster of about 500,000 stars in the constellation of Hercules. Though 25,000 light years away, the great globular cluster Messier 13 in Hercules is still visible to the naked eye. Some 12 billion years old, this massive system contains half a million or so solar masses `packed into a volume only 100 light years. This image was taken on June 13, 2013 and is a 90 minute total exposure.
